Description

This book debates postmodern cinema, narratives and mediation processes in film and digital media.

An installation composed by Google Images, novels activated by hashtags, a narrative video remix made from break- up blog entries and the porosity of the screen in YouTube celebrity intimacy. Artworks and articles by the author lead the discussion of the nature of media interaction with humans, and opens up a framework to analyse the agents at play in the mediation and narrative process.

The book also features Who Did It?, an essay proposing a resolution for the mystery in Michael Haneke’s Caché. The article has been downloaded over 5,000 times online, and discusses narratives that operate between real and fictional worlds, an essential aspect of postmodern cinema, a theme also present in other articles included in the book.

Written in a concise, illustrated and fully-referenced way, the book has been originally published as a Master Degree thesis at the Digital Culture center of the University of Jyväskylä, a member of the Nordic Digital Culture Network.
